Study of wind loads on asphalt shingles using full-scale experimentation

چکیده
Asphalt shingles constitute more than 80% of the roofing materials in current residential housing United States. Many post-disaster surveys have reported failure these elements below design level wind event. Research to realistically model aerodynamics asphalt at full-scale is limited, resulting knowledge gaps peak loads and effects permeability. In this study, resistance are studied by using a monoslope roof tested Florida International University's Wall Wind Experimental Facility. Results from both aerodynamic assessment test protocols showed that near upper corners were subjected high suctions due cornering winds. This presents critical loading case for which shingle systems not typically standard tests. Moreover, extent permeability underneath was observed vary with spatial location direction. Finally, comparison area-averaged Cp values obtained study GCp plots ASCE 7-16 Standard provisions, do consider permeable (e.g., shingles), can underestimate on shingles.

This chapter describes the methodology used in EPA’s Waste Reduction Model (WARM) to estimate streamlined life‐cycle greenhouse gas (GHG) emission factors for asphalt shingles beginning at the waste generation reference point. The WARM GHG emission factors are used to compare the net emissions associated with asphalt shingles in the following four waste management alternatives: source reduction...
متن کاملPerformance of Recycled Asphalt Shingles in Hot Mix Asphalt: TPF-5(213)
US transportation agencies have been increasingly using recycled asphalt shingles (RAS) in hot mix asphalt (HMA) applications over the last 25 years. Initial use of RAS started with recycled postmanufacturers shingles, but now agencies are showing a growing interest in using post-consumer (tear-off) RAS in asphalt applications. Post-consumer asphalt shingles typically have 20 to 30 percent asph...
